Digital Signage
Registered Student Organizations (RSOs), Campus Life Programs (CLPs), and UMD departments are eligible to submit postings for digital signs in Kirby Student Center. Kirby Student Center controls only content on screens within the building, not across campus. Student Org submissions may be submitted on BulldogConnect HERE.
Posters for digital signage must meet the following criteria:
- A submitted and approved event in Bulldog Connect
- High definition artwork no less than 1298 pixels wide by 730 pixels wide
- System will automatically resize down to 1298x730
- Submissions must be in .png, .jpg, or .pdf format
- Videos will not be accepted
Each post may only be in the queue for two (2) weeks prior to the event
Digital signage will not be accepted for weekly meetings more than one (1) time per semester
For example, you can submit a posting to let people know when your scheduled weekly meetings are, but only for two weeks in a semester. Resubmission of weekly meeting announcements will not be approved
Each group may have two (2) digital postings at any time
For example, if your org has three events during a two week period, only two digital postings can be in the queue
Banner Spaces
There are four banner spaces in the stairwells of Kirby Student Center, designed for larger (4' x 3') banners. Organizations are limited to one banner space per week, with possible exceptions during peak times of the year at the discretion of Kirby staff. Reservations for banner spaces are made in Mazévo.
Chalking
Chalking is permitted on concrete sidewalks only for a maximum of ten days and must contain the name of the UMD RSO/CLP or campus department. It may not interfere with any other messages already chalked. The chalking material must be water-soluble (sidewalk) chalk. It must be placed in a location not covered by an overhang, in an open area that can be naturally washed by rainfall. Chalking is forbidden on:
- All vertical surfaces, including any walls or columns
- Outside UMD residence halls/apartments
- Buildings
- Bus stops
- Steps
- Mailboxes or newsstands
- Benches
- Picnic tables
- Light poles or other poles
- Existing signs
- Trees
Facilities Management reserves the right to clean any chalking that does not follow these guidelines, with associated charges being the responsibility of the organization or department that violated the policy.
